The Secret Is in the Dressing

This is my most requested salad recipe.

As you can see, the ingredients are pretty basic. But don’t let that fool you: put them all together, and you’ve got a winner. I will say it does take some trial and error to find out which sweet and savory go well together.

Although you don’t see them in this picture, I usually top the salad with candied pecans.

When I made the salad above, however, I used sliced almonds. They added a little more salty and savory since I chose a sweet dressing. Yet the photo doesn’t quite do the salad justice; the presentation is so pretty.

Before my health changed, I used to do what I call “custom cooking” for my friends. And I loved it! This past week, a friend contacted me and asked if I could help her out. I was thrilled.

This marked my first opportunity in three years to serve a friend by doing something I love!

It made my heart happy.

I usually create my own salad dressing recipes by looking at several recipes and picking and choosing from the various ingredients. Probably my favorite dressing to make is what I call “Million Dollar Dressing.” Now that I am eating “clean,” I’m having to revise all my recipes, a process I’m enjoying as well.

More to come!
