Perhaps you’re like me and find mosaics truly captivating. Maybe it’s their intricate craftsmanship or vibrant beauty that catches my eye. Or maybe it’s what they represent, the story they tell.

After all, mosaics are often handcrafted from broken or shattered pieces of colored glass, stone, or old pottery. And those materials and the artwork created often depict the heart or story of a person's life — once a pile of tears, tests, and trials, now seen as uniquely beautiful.

When I see a mosaic, I am reminded of what God does in our lives when we are a mess, dealing with physical, spiritual, and emotional pain … brokenness and heartache. Yet, there is no circumstance God cannot redeem, no matter how troublesome or tragic.

God deeply desires to restore our broken or shattered lives, to put the pieces back together in a way that only He can do ... His way.

“He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds" (Psalm 147:3).

May your life be a beautiful mosaic of how God has restored you by His divine design.

 About Ally

Born and raised in Minnesota, Ally moved south to Texas 35 years ago, taking a job as an RN in a large trauma and teaching hospital. Soon after, Ally met her husband, John, at a Bible Church they both attended. She and John have been happily married for 35 years and have five adult children.

In 2014, Ally was diagnosed with a rare and incurable neurological disease. This began a new chapter in her life, one filled with physical pain and suffering. Yet her deepest desire is to respond to her circumstances in a God-honoring way. She desires to serve God despite her physical challenges.

Ally loves books, and her office gives evidence of this passion. Her insatiable curiosity shines through when she launches into each new selection — preferring to read the last chapter of the book first. “My mother used to start each book this way,” Ally shares, “and she passed down her love of books to me.” Spiritual classics are her favorite. “They are deep, rich, and full of the kind of content we seldom see in modern-day writing,” she smiles.

Ally’s other interests include all things British, cooking, reading, writing, and blogging. She says she enjoys serving God, a calling that has deepened in and through her chronic health condition. You can often find her serving alongside her husband John at Lakeside Community Fellowship-Athens, Texas.
